Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen the social work and behavioral health professions by bridging the gap between formal education and real-world practice through practical education, clinical supervision, research, and collaborative resources. We empower clinicians, students, organizations, and communities to build sustainable, ethical, and effective practices while advancing an interdisciplinary understanding of the connection between physical, mental, and behavioral health.

Rachel Dowd
Director of Research

Rachel Dowd is a Research Scientist at Adaptive Strength Consulting Group whose research examines how sex hormones influence human health and well-being. Her work is grounded in exercise and integrative physiology, with a particular interest in how changes in sex hormone levels affect metabolism, physical performance, and mental health.
Rachel holds a B.Sc. in Exercise Science and an M.Sc. in Applied Physiology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Northern Colorado. Her master's research investigated the influence of menstrual cycle phase on airway function and respiratory muscle oxygen consumption. More recently, she has investigated the effects of cross-sex hormone therapy on physiological adaptations to resistance training, expanding her work into the broader effects of altered sex hormone environments. Her research experience includes hormone analysis, menstrual cycle tracking and verification, exercise prescription, and statistical analysis, as well as study design, human-subject research, IRB protocol development, and grant and proposal writing.
At Adaptive Strength Consulting Group, Rachel contributes throughout the research process, from developing research questions and designing studies to manuscript preparation and project oversight. Her background in physiology complements the organization's focus on investigating the relationship between sex hormones and mental health. Ultimately, her goal is to contribute to a more integrated understanding of the relationships among sex hormones, physiology, exercise, and mental health, supporting more individualized and evidence-based approaches to long-term health.

Tracie
Counseling Intern

Tracie is a counseling intern with a heart for helping adolescents and young adults navigate anxiety, depression, overwhelm, perfectionism, and the pressures that can come with school, relationships, and planning for the future. Her goal is to create a welcoming space where clients can be themselves, feel genuinely heard, and know they do not have to have everything figured out.
She is especially passionate about working with athletes and student-athletes who may be balancing performance expectations, academics, injuries, recruiting, self-doubt, or fear of failure. Tracie believes mental health is just as important as physical health and enjoys helping athletes build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and recognize that their identity extends far beyond their performance.
Tracie’s Christian faith is an important part of who she is and her calling to counseling. For clients who desire it, she welcomes the opportunity to incorporate faith, prayer, Scripture, and spiritual growth into the counseling process while respecting each person’s individual beliefs and experiences.
Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. Whether clients are experiencing anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, or simply going through a difficult season, Tracie hopes to provide a safe place where they feel supported as they develop greater confidence, resilience, and hope.
